An Australian retailer with a PrestaShop website approached us with what they thought was a visitor traffic problem. They wanted more sales on the website, and thought they needed more visitors to the website.
After researching the business and the website, our eCommerce experts saw the problem differently. The retailer’s market is shrinking and visitor traffic to the website was dropping, but the bigger issue was that engagement and conversions were too low. The business was wasting the traffic it had, and the website was not converting enough visitors into customers.
Generating more traffic using SEO or paid Ads was unlikely to generate more sales. Rather than spend (and possibly waste) money trying to attract more visitors to the site, our strategic advice was to improve User Engagement and sales conversions on the site first.
Our Conversion Rate Optimisation specialists suggested a number of enhancements to improve the User Experience (UX) and improve the Calls To Action (CTAs) to increase conversion rates. A new custom PrestaShop theme was implemented on the website, and the site quickly had on a new ‘look and feel’ that made it far more engaging.
The result? Twelve months later, even with a 12% reduction in traffic, transactions increased 45% and revenue increased 48%.
